There is an average way, the bad way and then there is the perfect way to make a cup of coffee. We hope to provide you with the information required to make and enjoy "that perfect cup of coffee".
USE FRESHLY ROASTED WHOLE COFFEE BEANS.
Start with freshly roasted gourmet coffee beans as supplied by "Cafétienda". Remember that a retail supplier of coffee beans has purchased their beans from warehouses where the beans have been in storage and then the retailer stores them on the shelves until you buy them. In most cases this could take months from the time the beans were roasted to the time you purchase them. The fresh original flavour has been slowly disappearing as has your chance for that perfect cup of coffee. Cafétienda coffees always comes from the last crop, never kept in warehouses for long time and are freshly roasted.
GRINDING BEAN
Always grind your coffee beans as you prepare to make that perfect cup of coffee. You may use a blade grinder or a burr grinder. Grind the beans to the required coarseness of your coffee maker.
WATER
Always use fresh cold water. The water is as important as the beans that you use. Bottled water is an excellent choice but make sure it is distilled water or reverse osmosis. If you filter your own tap water, allow it to run a few minutes before using as this will help get rid of the water that has been lying in the pipes. Make sure you measure you amount of water using the standard of 6 ounces of cold clean water per cup of perfect coffee.
How important is the water?
It is quite simple: Coffee is at least 98% water. The higher the quality of water, the higher the quality of the resulting cup of coffee. If your tap water tastes good at room temperature tap water is probably fine for making coffee. If your tap water has off flavours then your coffee will have off flavours. Many people use filtered or bottled water for their coffee. There is a difference. Some of the newer more expensive coffee pots come with replaceable charcoal filters built into the machine. Please note that your taste buds are more acute when tasting warm liquids so it is important to taste your perspective water at room temperature since you will be drinking your coffee warm.
COFFEE REQUIRED
For every 6 ounces of cold water add 2 level tablespoons of ground coffee. As you try other blends of coffee, you may have to adjust the amount of coffee required for that perfect cup of coffee.
THE RESULTS
Use a glass or ceramic mug. Pour you coffee, add cream and sugar as wanted. Using artificial sweeteners may cause a bitter and odd taste to the coffee. Serve the coffee as soon as it is brewed as the flavour will quickly deteriorate. Coffee left sitting in the pot will not be usable after 20 to 40 minutes. It will last longer if you put it in an insulated coffee server.
