To grow organic coffee is an extremely challenging task. The natural elements make it hard for the plant to grow without the use chemical products. The Colombian tropical environment brings additional challenges.
The certification entity, BCS OKO has very strict rules and they make regular inspections to make sure that the plantation respects the organic convention.
The group of farmers has joined into an association called:
CORPORACIÓN PARA EL DESARROLLO INTEGRAL DE LA FAMILIA Y LA COMUNIDAD “FALCOM”
The group consist of 89 people and 15 families working on 111 hectares of land. The farms are mainly in the department of Caldas -in the municipalities of Villa Maria, Neira, Pensilvania, Aranzazu and Manizales. and in the department of Risaralda - in the municiplaities of Santa Rosa and Dosquebradas.
This group of Caféteros is working according to the principles of a cooperative which makes their product a truly "Café Responsable"
